Speed and efficiency are key when processing large amounts of data. For Enterprise Vault users, Veritas’s switch to Elastic Search a few years ago made searches in EV 1 to 2 orders of magnitude faster. What does that mean for those EV users who are using Discovery Accelerator or third-party products, like our Enterprise Search or Legal Hold Manager products, with their Enterprise Vault environment?
- If you’re using Discovery Accelerator, you should immediately see drastically faster search results. In one case, we saw per archive searches go from 20 seconds to a fraction of a second.
- Companies using our Archive Accelerator Legal Hold Manager product will, therefore, see dramatically more cases created and put on legal hold per hour.
- For those using our Archive Accelerator Enterprise Search product, which leverages Enterprise Vault search, the end users will see search results return in a fraction of the time.
When both Discovery Accelerator and Legal Hold Manager are being used with the benefit of Elastic Search, both types of searches can be managed simultaneously with the same resources.
So what’s the catch?
To use Elastic Search, you have to reindex your data.
This can feel daunting for many as it seems like a huge, time-consuming task, but it’s worth it in the long run. The reindexing process happens in the background, allowing you to search and operate as normal while it’s processing. Going through the process of reindexing data will save time and make all tasks utilizing the search engine much faster moving forward.
Elastic Search is the go-to search engine for many eDiscovery products, and with Enterprise Vault joining the club, we encourage everyone to make the switch, which will pay off nicely in the long run.
