Archiving solved the storage problem years ago.
But many organizations never solved the access problem.
Here’s the familiar pattern:
➡️ End user needs an old email
➡️IT becomes the middleman
➡️Time, productivity, and patience are lost
Now imagine a different model:
🌟 A secure, intuitive web interface where users can search archived email by sender, date, or content—and restore what they need directly to their mailbox.
Actionable takeaways:
1️⃣ Separate “data retention” from “data usability” in your strategy
2️⃣ Reduce IT bottlenecks by empowering end users safely
3️⃣ Look for archive tools that mirror modern search expectations
Archive Accelerator Enterprise Search flips the model—access without chaos for those using Arctera Enterprise Vault. To learn more and calm the chaos, visit: https://lnkd.in/dEPfT_e9

Supercharge Your Searches: Upgrade Enterprise Vault with Elastic Search for Lightning-Fast Results!

Speed and efficiency are key when processing large amounts of data. For Enterprise Vault users, Veritas’s switch to Elastic Search a few years ago made searches in EV 1 to 2 orders of magnitude faster. What does that mean for those EV users who are using Discovery Accelerator or third-party products, like our Enterprise Search or Legal Hold Manager products, with their Enterprise Vault environment?
- If you’re using Discovery Accelerator, you should immediately see drastically faster search results. In one case, we saw per archive searches go from 20 seconds to a fraction of a second.
- Companies using our Archive Accelerator Legal Hold Manager product will, therefore, see dramatically more cases created and put on legal hold per hour.
- For those using our Archive Accelerator Enterprise Search product, which leverages Enterprise Vault search, the end users will see search results return in a fraction of the time.
When both Discovery Accelerator and Legal Hold Manager are being used with the benefit of Elastic Search, both types of searches can be managed simultaneously with the same resources.
So what’s the catch?
To use Elastic Search, you have to reindex your data.
This can feel daunting for many as it seems like a huge, time-consuming task, but it’s worth it in the long run. The reindexing process happens in the background, allowing you to search and operate as normal while it’s processing. Going through the process of reindexing data will save time and make all tasks utilizing the search engine much faster moving forward.
Elastic Search is the go-to search engine for many eDiscovery products, and with Enterprise Vault joining the club, we encourage everyone to make the switch, which will pay off nicely in the long run.
Integrating Enterprise Vault with Third Party Compliance Applications.

Many companies use VeritasTM Enterprise Vault as the repository of record for all their email, which is typically used for eDiscovery or Compliance purposes. Veritas does have eDiscovery and Compliance applications that obviously integrate very well with Enterprise Vault, but there are other companies that provide solutions customers may want to use. We sometimes receive requests from customers that, for whatever reason, want to use one of these 3rd party compliance applications with Enterprise Vault.
A 3rd party vender is not likely to have a tight integration with Enterprise Vault, but a connection can be made by setting up a system to automatically export messages from Enterprise Vault on a daily or even hourly schedule to be provided in an industry standard format, such as EML, MSG or PST.
Typically, a compliance application needs to look at just a subset of messages that are journaled. There will be a list of employees who are monitored (typically broker-dealers) and there may be other criteria as well. One company recently asked about getting a feed of messages sent to/from their broker-dealers, but only messages sent to less than a dozen recipients. Presumably, the thought is that a message sent to many recipients likely doesn’t include the type of mischievous behavior they are looking for.
I was once the Product Manager for the Veritas Compliance Accelerator product used with Enterprise Vault, so it isn’t pleasant to see people jump ship to a third party compliance solution, but it is certainly a benefit to Enterprise Vault customers to have options.
